Section Overview - 133 - Mandatory Sign Lighting Requirements

The following overview and the training session are interpretations of v2008 of Title 24 and are meant to provide an introductory understanding of the section.  Full understanding of this section requires looking at the full text; this includes any exceptions to these credits.

OVERVIEW

Section 133 is mandatory and covers the following provisions RE sign lighting:  All signs with permanently connected lighting (other than as excepted in the full text) shall meet the requirements below:

• Automatic Time Switch Control. All signs with permanently connected lighting shall be controlled with an automatic time switch control that complies with the applicable requirements of Section 119
• Photocontrol or outdoor astronomical time switch control. All outdoor signs shall be controlled with a photocontrol or outdoor astronomical time switch control.
• Dimming. All outdoor signs shall be controlled with a dimmer that provides the ability to automatically reduce sign power by a minimum of 65 percent during nighttime hours.
