Resource Centers

Lighting based regulations, codes, standards and other topics related to sustainable lighting practices are described at the following sites:

  • ASHRAE 90.1 - a minimum, code-intended, energy standard developed by ASHRAE and IES for new construction and major renovations and adopted by a variety of jurisdictions; 'recent' versions include:
  • ASHRAE 100 - an EUI based energy standard for existing buildings developed by ASHRAE and IES (still under development by ASHRAE)
  • ASHRAE 189.1 - a sustainability standard developed by ASHRAE, USGBC and IES for new construction and major renovations and adopted by a variety of jurisdictions; 'recent' versions include:
    • 2011 (under development by ASHRAE)
    • 2009 
  • CA, Title 24, v2008
  • EPAct 2005 Tax Deduction - federal tax deductions based on installing energy efficient systems in commercial buildings
  • IECC - a minimum, code-intended, energy standard developed by the ICC for new construction and major renovations and adopted by a variety of jurisdictions; 'recent' versions include:
  • IgCC - a sustainability standard developed by the ICC and adopted by a variety of jurisdictions; 'recent' versions include:
    • 2012 (awaiting final publication)
  • LEED - a voluntary sustainabiity rating system maintained by the USGBC; 'recent' versions include:
    • 2012 (under development by USGBC)
    • 2009 (and older)
